Common reasons why you can’t find someone

In Google Pay, the “Allow people to find you” setting isn’t automatically turned on.

If this setting isn’t turned on, a person isn’t searchable unless you’re already connected to them on Google Pay.

To turn on the “Allow people to find you” setting, the receiver must complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Google Pay app Send money - Google Pay Help (4).
  2. On the Pay screen Send money - Google Pay Help (5), at the top right, tap your Profile picture or Account Send money - Google Pay Help (6).
  3. Tap Settings Send money - Google Pay Help (7) Privacy and Security Send money - Google Pay Help (8) How people find you on Google Pay.
  4. For people to find you, select Allow.

You can search for someone:

  • If a person is in your device contacts, you can search with their name.
  • If a person isn’t in your device contacts, you can search with their email address or phone number.
